What is ayoayo?

We created ayoayo to fill the need for genuine, conversation-based growth for English learners internationally.

While traditional learning materials may provide the foundation needed to pass a test or interview, we strive to unlock our students’ full potential by having honest, meaningful conversations and preparing them for challenges that might arise over the course of their personal and professional lives. Invaluable and transformational synergy is our goal.

How does it work?

We’ll establish a schedule of routine check-in calls (daily/weekly/monthly) using the video conferencing app, Zoom, or a similar software. We may focus on tangible goals like job searching, career development, public speaking, relocation, lifestyle changes, mock interviews, OR simply having conversations on topics like hobbies, relationships, and current events.

The point is that we’re here for you. We will modify our approach to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.

How do you pronounce ayoayo?

ayoayo is pronounced like the English letters “i” and “o”. Our website, is therefore, “i o i o dot i o” 😄.

How does scheduling work?

We’ve seen the most success when we’re able to have regular, ongoing sessions with our students.

Currently we are offering sessions in either 30 or 60 minute intervals, 1-5 times per week, in monthly packages.

With that said, we operate with flexibility and may be willing to take on one-off, time-sensitive, or complex, long-term projects depending on our student’s goals. We’ll work with you to figure out what works best.

How much does it cost?

Currently a 1-hour session with us is $50-$150+/hr. This depends on the teacher-student relationship. Special pricing may occur for select students and for specific projects. We will also offer in-person pop-ups, meet n’ greets, and various social events around the world at a later date. These events will be offered at different price points. How does payment work?

Single sessions are paid for at the time of scheduling. We also offer bulk discounts and typically invoice monthly for services to be rendered. We accept credit, debit, and direct bank transfers (ACH).

What guarantees do you offer?

We strive to perform at our best and provide a safe and confidential conversational service to each of our students. We understand that a safe, fun, judgement-free atmosphere creates the optimal condition for learning. At times, there may be language, cultural, and/or political differences that arise naturally. If we feel there is a genuine misunderstanding, or if the tutor/student feel that the arrangement is no longer a good fit, we can renegotiate the tutoring agreement or simply offer a refund for unused sessions. We are always striving to do better and love hearing all feedback.

What’s your cancellation policy?

In the rare instances of internet outages, power outages, equipment failure, or emergency cancellations, we will work with you to organize a replacement session. We value your time and ours. When possible, please give at least 24 hours notice if you won’t be available for a scheduled session.

Is ayoayo a person? Where did the name come from?

On July 8th, 2022, the sibling founders circled around a backyard table in Chicago brainstorming company names. It’s a long story, but ultimately, ayoayo is anything and everything, including a person. She is a flash of beauty. Enchantment embodied. Or maybe that basketball guy. Either way you’re getting a good deal :). Also, ayoayo is our “American Dream.”

Is Ayoayo capitalized or lowercase? What’s going on there?

Great question! From a design perspective, we don’t want to have to bother with rules about capitalization. But sometimes we feel obligated to follow those rules… We’ll keep you on your toes 😊.
